Even though we had a nice soak in the outdoor spa last night, we did not sleep well and we got a late start today. I hate that. I’d rather be up and on the road by 7 or 8, not 10:30!
Nevertheless, we gained an hour due to the time difference between Guaymas and Pacific Time in the US. So we rolled into a Quality Inn in Indio at about 6:00. Except it was really just 5:00! I was so happy to figure out that we were off by an hour! (Again, I must recant my declaration that time does not matter to me.)
Sitka has eaten and she is now spread out on the carpet. We are headed to the restaurant next door for some Mexican food. Ugh. No offense intended, but I sure could go for some Italian tonight! But we’re too tired to look around so Mexican it is…I wonder if I can pay with our leftover pesos…
I’m still kicking

two stops, a few more to go and you'll be home. i know it will be a big relief to get to salem and get settled in.
hope you have a relaxing evening and that you get off to an earlier start tomorrow.
take care,
teresa
When you get in, call the Salem office of SAIF and ask for me. See you soon.
Hey Cynthia and Mike, Mousseau here... I hadn't checked your blog in awhile. Sorry to hear that things didn't work out as expected in MX but what a great adventure for the last year. Life has a way of sorting itself out. Since you're in SoCal, you should stop and do a winery hop like in the movie Sideways (north of Santa Barbara near Ohai), or better yet, do the scenic route through Napa and Sonoma when you go through San Francisco. Mike, I hope your health improves, and welcome back to the NW. Ciao for now. Mark
I hate to mention it now, but did you have the Mexican Aduana remove your sticker off your vehicle? If you don't turn it in you cannot import another vehicle into Mexico. I know that right now it seems like you will never return, but you never know what life will bring.
regards,
Theresa
t - thanks for following our journey...it's good to know you are there. We will hook up soon with Steve Cotton.
S - we got your email and we will call!
M - hey dude! We almost detoured to SF today, but decided to stay on I5...we're on a mission! It's good to hear from you.
T - YES, we did turn in our sticker. It was so easy and quick. I don't know why anyone would not turn it in. The thing I did not do was change my FM3 visa from lucritivo to non-lucritivo (since I no longer work at the Preschool and the Preschool will file a form that says I don't work for them.) Do you think that causes any problems??
Hi, I think that in some parts of Mexico, it isn't obvious where you go to have your FM3 stamped or (in your case your permission to leave the country canceling your visa)and since Mexico doesn't spell things out unless you ask.
As to your question about your change in status, when you left Mexico you should have canceled your fm-3s

unless you are planning upon returning this year, which I don't think you are. If you return you then reapply for a new fm-3. That keeps you from paying fines for not renewing your old one. If you didn't do that, you might want to stop at the Mexican Consulate and ask them what to do.
regards,
Theresa
