But it has been so hot and humid here that Sitka isn't getting the same amount of exercise that she's used to. And I'm not sure that's bad...I don't want her to get sick or weak from the heat. It's just that I feel guilty seeing her lying around the apt all the time.
So we got up early and took her to a deserted part of the beach that we had never been to. Sitka loves water and she RAN into the Sea of Cortez!
We didn't bring any toys, but some coconut husks were floating around and we used them for her to play "fetch" with. 
A couple of times she got over her head (she has never been a strong swimmer) and I was ready to jump in if needed, but even though she looked worried when she couldn't feel the bottom she did just fine. And don't call the Humane Society - we didn't let her get out too far. Finally it was time to go home and figure out how to clean her up.
Sitka usually rides in the extended cab of the truck so she can enjoy the AC, but today she was so messy and wet we put her inside the canopy where she used to ride in Seattle...back window open wide with her big head taking a beating in the wind. She loved it!
Once we got home we got her in our shower and cleaned all that saltwater off. I used to shower "with her" in Seattle, but this was my first try in Guaymas. I can say that I'm happy we have an open shower - it made it a lot easier and the clean up wasn't bad.

How is Sitka handling the heat with that heavy coat? Poor Professor Jiggs, my golden, gets miserable in the Oregon heat.

Sitka is such a beautiful girl! I absolutely love, love, love Shepperds. Obviously, since we have one! It looks like she had a great time and I'm sure she'll be nagging you to take her back again.
Good morning Steve! Sitka seems to be doing just fine with the heat although she has been shedding a lot. Her undercoat is coming out like it would do in springtime in Seattle. We keep lots of water available for her (purified) and her appetite remains strong. We just got back from an early walk on the malecon and although she is panting she appears to be just fine.
Brenda - she is so good except when she encounters a street dog she barks like crazy!
Beth - You're right about the nagging...that's why we dragged ourselves outta bed this morning for the walk. Gotta keep the girl happy!
